Mohamed Salah Extends Statement to Squad, Reveals Curtis Jones
The Liverpool midfielder has disclosed that the Egyptian forward apologised to the entire Liverpool squad in the wake of the uproar from his recent interview.
What Happened
Salah was left out from a European match after criticising the club and suggesting his rapport with Arne Slot had soured.
“Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff,” the midfielder said. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘If I’ve affected anybody, please accept my apology.’”
The head coach has chosen not to comment publicly on whether he received a personal apology from the 33-year-old forward.
Moving Forward
Jones insisted that the dressing room atmosphere was unchanged. “Nothing about him changed, he was smiling and everybody was exactly the same with him,” he continued.
The midfielder also noted that a competitor wanting to play is less of an issue. “I get that there are specific approaches you can express yourself,” he said. “Yet, should someone be happy to just sit out, then I think that’s more of an issue.”
Team Form
The team's performance have stayed unbeaten in the matches since the initial controversy. He feels the forward's comments were not designed to cause disruption.
“If passion has boiled over, it’s always been from a place of caring,” he finished. “It's behind us and we’re building chemistry, playing well and starting to win games.”
