Pat Bamford Joins the Blades Despite Initiating Derogatory Songs Targeting Manager Chris Wilder

Patrick Bamford has joined Sheffield United just half a year following instigating insulting taunts targeting the team's coach, Chris Wilder.

The 32-year-old striker, a free agent after departing from Leeds, has signed a contract joining the Championship club in difficulty until January. Bamford's lengthy spell at Elland Road was ended amicably in August.

One of the player's final notable acts as a Leeds player was to lead insulting songs regarding Wilder amid Leeds' promotion party in April. Now, the one-cap England international will feature under Wilder as Sheffield United's boss seeks to rescue his beloved club away from the drop zone.

Past Conflict Between Bamford & the Manager

Both men had previous conflict prior to Leeds won promotion back to the Premier League last season while Sheffield United lost the promotion decider to Sunderland. Wilder described the forward as a "muppet" when the situation was different during the 2018-19 season and the Blades secured direct promotion while Leeds missed out in the playoffs.

Reconciliation & Moving Forward

Everything seems to have been put behind them with Sheffield United, the Championship’s lowest scorers, urgently requiring of a boost up front while Bamford hoping to resurrect his career.

The Wilder chant spread widely in April. An apologetic Bamford and the Leeds manager, Farke, called the Sheffield United manager the next day.

Wilder commented back then: “Spoke with Patrick yesterday and I’ve no problem at all with it. I'm uncertain regarding the words used from a fellow professional! However I valued and admired him giving me a call.

“We spent a short while and similarly I spoke to Daniel as well and had a longer discussion with him and he's a great person, a class act. When I was playing we used to give it and accept it and that is an integral part of football across all levels, including a Sunday morning. I have no problem at all. I'm fine with the situation and I told him that to Pat.”

Recent Playing Struggles

The forward made 18 appearances with Leeds United in the previous campaign but the former Nottingham Forest, Chelsea FC & Boro striker has faced difficulties with fitness issues in recent years.
