President Endorses Measure to Disclose Further Jeffrey Epstein Files After Months of Pushback

The US leader stated on Wednesday night that he had signed the measure overwhelmingly approved by American lawmakers that mandates the Department of Justice to make public more files related to Jeffrey Epstein, the late child sexual abuser.

The move comes after months of pushback from the leader and his supporters in Congress that divided his Maga base and created rifts with various established backers.

Donald Trump had resisted making public the related records, labeling the issue a "false narrative" and condemning those who sought to release the documents public, despite promising their publication on the political campaign.

Nevertheless he altered his position in the last week after it became apparent the legislative chamber would approve the measure. The president said: "We have nothing to hide".

It's not clear what the department will make public in as a result of the measure – the measure outlines a host of various records that must be released, but provides exceptions for certain documents.

The President Endorses Measure to Require Publication of Further the financier Files

The bill calls for the top justice official to make unclassified related files open for review "available for online access", covering every inquiry into Epstein, his associate his accomplice, flight logs and travel records, people referenced or named in relation to his crimes, entities that were linked to his trafficking or financial networks, exemption arrangements and further court deals, internal communications about charging decisions, documentation of his confinement and passing, and details about potential document destruction.

The justice department will have 30 days to submit the records. The measure contains specific exclusions, such as removals of personal details of victims or personal files, any depictions of child sexual abuse, disclosures that would jeopardize active investigations or court proceedings and depictions of death or mistreatment.
