Sweden Selection Lineup: Alexander Isak Included Whereas Viktor Gyokeres Excluded
Viktor Gyokeres signed with Arsenal from Sporting in July
Arsenal forward Viktor Gyokeres has been omitted in Graham Potter's first Swedish national team selection, while Reds striker Alexander Isak secured selection
The Arsenal forward is scheduled for additional examinations this week following concerns he sustained a hamstring injury during Arsenal's English top flight triumph against the Clarets last weekend
Gyokeres was absent from Arsenal' European victory against the Czech side earlier this week
Alexander Isak Back in Action
Isak, who hasn't featured from 22 October because of a groin injury, made the squad to play in World Cup qualifying matches versus Switzerland (November 15th) and Slovenia (November 18th)
Additional England-based Inclusions
- Tottenham playmaker Lucas Bergvall, currently rehabilitating from a head injury
- Magpies wide player the Swedish international
Both athletes are among Potter's England-based contingent selected under ex- Brighton, Chelsea and West Ham manager the new Swedish coach
The New Manager's Appointment
Potter was appointed the Swedish federation initially temporarily in late October, under four weeks following he was dismissed from the Hammers
Former manager Jon Dahl Tomasson lost his job after Sweden's setback to the Kosovan team in mid-October, a result which rendered direct progression from qualifying group impossible
Present Standing
Sweden are currently last place in Group B with only one point in their opening four games
Even if they don't manage to secure second place, they may yet be involved in the secondary qualification because of their performance during the previous Nations League
