Emma Raducanu advanced to round three in three Grand Slam tournaments Grand Slam events during the season.

The British tennis star Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from the last two tournaments of the year due to the illness that has affected her for the last week and a half.

The 22-year-old was scheduled to compete in Tokyo and Hong Kong but opted to return home to regain her health ahead of launching her preparations for 2026.

These plans will involve her coach Francisco Roig, as they have agreed to work together for the upcoming season.

She had her blood pressure taken in her opening round with Ann Li in Wuhan last week and retired when trailing 6-1 4-1 on a day with extreme humidity.

Another medical visit was necessary a doctor's assessment at this week's Ningbo Open, where she was defeated in three sets to local wildcard Zhu Lin in round one.

Raducanu was also moving noticeably restricted in the final set versus Zhu due to the lower back problem that has troubled her on several occasions in 2025.

Such performances signaled a promising season, in which the player advanced into the world's top 30 for the first time in more than three years, ended with three successive defeats.

Raducanu had three match points then was defeated by Jessica Pegula in round three in the Beijing tournament last month.

The player achieved 28 matches this year and advanced to the semis in the Washington tournament, but her most impressive week was at March's Miami Open.

The British number one made the last eight of the WTA 1000 event, defeating eighth seed Emma Navarro during the tournament before losing in a three-set match to fourth-ranked Pegula.

She worked with Mark Petchey as coach from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Roig assuming the role in time for the US Open.

The first plan with Rafael Nadal's former coach was for the remainder of the year but the partnership will continue, with a training block pencilled in for the end of the year.

Raducanu told that the trial session with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as the meeting was kept under wraps.

The player was close to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at their first tournament together in Cincinnati during August.

Roig was also with Raducanu in the New York tournament, where she reached the third round before being beaten by Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
