The Renowned Musician Calls On Public Help to Propel Palestinian Solidarity Song to UK Festive Top Spot.

A campaign is aiming to send a traditional song from Palestine to the Christmas number one spot. The effort aims to provide aid to people in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian cultural expression.

A Possibility for Unity and an "Chart Upset"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a chance to show solidarity with Palestinians this festive season. He remarked the potential for an surprise number one.

“That would be amazing if that occurred, yes,” he commented. “I wouldn't be completely disappointed if it doesn't manage to, Christmas singles are a unique phenomenon.”

Resilient Spirit of Freedom and Dignity

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the adaptation of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's resilient spirit.

“It has a very special place for a lot of people,” Barghouti shared. “The message is that I would prefer a dignified death than exist without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we want to live a life of dignity that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”

Track's Background and Contributing Musicians

The song was recorded after a major charity concert held in late summer. First conceived to be performed and recorded live, the rendition was cut from the show due to time constraints.

The notable list of performers contributing to Lullaby features a selection of acclaimed names from the scene. All participated in the September show, which successfully generated a significant sum for relief efforts.

Final Touches and Availability

Lullaby was produced by a group of music creators. The song showcases a mix of the original Arabic with new English lyrics.

The group managing the project have stated that their aim is to generate maximum funds for a charitable pot. These donations will be distributed to projects in Palestine through an non-profit partner.

“We haven't set a fixed goal,” a spokesperson said. “We’ll go for as much as possible. Of course, the greater the amount, the better. All proceeds are directed out to those in need in Gaza.”

The reality in the region was noted for its extreme devastation, with a vast majority of infrastructure said to be destroyed or damaged.

“In that context, a couple of million is unlikely to make that much difference. But I think the significant factor is primarily raising awareness for this issue and demonstrating that another narrative exists.”

The track is scheduled for release this Friday. Additionally, a video of the solidarity show will be made available for streaming on a popular streaming site from mid-December.
