The Streaming Platform is Developing a Far Cry TV Series from the Minds of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.

The latest Far Cry game that players explored was Far Cry 6, that starred Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the villain, Antón, and came out on October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is famous for delighting in action and mayhem with similar glee, all while weaving engaging, politically driven tales. No wonder then that the network’s decision for a Far Cry limited-run show brought on board two creators whose projects have embodied all of those things.

About the Series

Based on Ubisoft's successful video game franchise, the limited anthology series will be available on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The series will also mirror the video games' format by having a different location and cast of characters in every instalment.

Executive Team

Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as executive producers on the series via their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

“FX has had magnificent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is innovative, compelling, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to thank our partners at Ubisoft for trusting us with this beloved property.”

Cast and Future Plans

Mac will also appear in the show, but currently, we do not know what role that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago approved for a second instalment, with FX and Disney finalizing a new overall deal with the showrunner.

“Having the opportunity with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably supportive, trusting us with one of the most renowned video-game worlds ever created. And through it all, my FX family always encourages me with their steady trust and assistance.”

“What I love about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology-style show. Each game is a take of a theme, the same way each season of Fargo is a adaptation on a story,” noted Hawley. “To produce a large-scale action show that can change from season to season, while always examining the core of humanity through this multifaceted and unpredictable perspective, is a long-held aspiration. I’m eager to work with Rob and bring our mutual irreverent, daring approach to the television.”

A release window for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
