The relatives of young people unaccounted for after a tragic fire at a bar in a Switzerland's winter destination are confronting an excruciating period of uncertainty for official news and appealing for clues about their loved ones publicly.

The inferno ripped through the Le Constellation bar in Cans-Montana, located in the Alps of south-west Switzerland, in the early hours of New Year's Day. Circulated images depict the ceiling igniting as bottles with fireworks are raised in celebration.

Emergency services have stated that it could take days if not weeks to formally name the fatalities of the fire, which killed numerous partygoers and injured another over a hundred. Authorities noted on the latest update that 113 of the those hurt have been accounted for, with efforts still underway to locate the remaining few.

In the interim, loved ones have been using online platforms to appeal for any news about their missing relatives who were present at the venue that evening.

Desperate Searches for the Missing
