Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Lagos Following Deadly Car Crash
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, local government spokespeople stated on Wednesday night. The fighter was involved in a car accident near Lagos on Monday, a horrific crash that took the lives of two of his team members.
Healing from Light Wounds
The boxer had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his management team confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on social media that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to leave and heal privately.
“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The victims of the crash were named as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the tragic loss of his two trusted companions.”
This update on his health arrives after the sports world had expressed sympathy for the star in the following the heartbreaking incident.
